Drop the bike again for another free shot 🍇

Our caravan of 17 bikes, 5 cars, and one van gracefully navigated Cape Town’s interstate highways into South Africa’s breathtaking countryside 🏞️. After fueling up to start the day, we soon found ourselves amidst vast farmlands and ascending a mountainside for our first stop.

At the mountain peak, the panoramic view stretched for miles, revealing valleys below, peaks all around, and endless blue skies ☀️. Jaw dropped, I managed to snap photos, savor the fresh, brisk air, and pinched myself to confirm I wasn’t dreaming.

Standing at this vista, I reflected on the unlikely series of events that brought me here. It all began with creating my website, www.cherishtheride.com, followed by an unplanned motorcycle show visit in NYC in December 2016 without my friend Moshe. These experiences pushed me outside my comfort zone, leading to conversations and opportunities I wouldn’t have otherwise had.

Continuing our journey, we rode for another three hours through scenic mountain passes, vineyards, alongside cattle, and past friendly locals who enthusiastically waved at us 🍇🐮.

For lunch, we stopped at a serene restaurant with views of the neighboring mountains. I was so engrossed in the company and conversation that I inadvertently left without settling my tab. In a rush of guilt, I promptly emailed the restaurant to arrange payment online.

Throughout the day, I was struck by the warm hospitality of the South African people, which culminated in a delightful evening at the hotel bar where talented musicians entertained us with piano and song 🎹🎶. I even captured a video, though secretly wishing I could join in the singing!

At dinner, our host humorously awarded “prizes” to riders for their mishaps. I earned one for accidentally dropping my bike while barely moving at 1 mph 🏍️. After the obligatory shot of liquor, I jokingly promised to drop the bike again for another free shot, much to everyone's amusement.

Despite these light-hearted moments, today’s ride under clear spring skies and along empty roads provided a perfect backdrop for capturing countless photos and creating lasting memories 📸✨.
