CA - Pacific Ocean - Day 12 πποΈ
Victory! I crossed the US on two wheels! Approximately 3,100 miles, 13 states, in 12 riding days with stops at 6 friends' and families' houses. Lots of great conversations, bonding, and living in the days of people I love. πΊοΈπ β€οΈ
Today took me from Lake Tahoe, up and over the mountains, into Sacramento in the valley, through Napa, across the Golden Gate Bridge, to the Pacific Ocean, and finally to my cousinβs house in San Francisco. ποΈπππ‘
Unlike any other day in this segment of the journey, I had to deal with highway traffic. In CA, this means motorcyclists can lane split (legally) and cut to the front of the lines at traffic lights. The cagers (car drivers) are in tune with this and often get out of the motorcyclists' way - unheard of in the northeast! πβ‘οΈποΈ It's a good thing I've been reading up on these topics in various publications, such as Motorcycle Consumer News. ππ°
I also noted the immediate difference in the local motorcyclists' riding style. They are generally much more situationally aware than northeast riders and cut through mountains and technical roads with ease. I have some skills to learn and training to do! ποΈβ°οΈπ―
