California Pacific Coast Highway 🌅

Wow! I heard about how great riding the PCH is, but I finally got to experience it. And never before did a 220-mile ride take me 6+ hours to complete. 🛣️⏳

With hairpin turns everywhere, frequent ascensions and declines, and cliffside views of the Pacific Ocean, riding the PCH is highly technical, very challenging, and requires 100% focus. 🌊🛤️🏞️

Once again, I leveraged the experience and riding skills of the locals to navigate my way through part of the journey. I followed a crew of three riders for about 20 miles, carefully observing their hand signals, passing skills, and foot gestures indicating road hazards (such as gravel in the middle of the road). 👋🛵🛑

When they stopped riding in a small town, I also parked and thanked them for taking such a great lead. As a bike mechanic, law-enforcement officer, and bartender, these three San Francisco riders possessed sharp riding skills, situational awareness, and proficiency with local navigation. Once again, I am impressed with northern California riders. It’s nothing like what I see in the Northeast. 👮‍♂️🔧🍻
